Back in the saddle
After a 10-week hiatus from officially training for anything, I’m back to following the numbers I’ve meticulously copied onto my Runner’s World calendar from Hal Higdon’s “Big Book of Marathon Training” that I initially relied upon for Asheville. I was happy to crack her back open and jump back in to avoiding plantar fasciitis, working in weekly fartlek workouts, and how to carbo load without getting a gut.
Today I am 16 weeks out from my next marathon: 7 Bridges on October 20, in Chattanooga, TN. This means it’s game time. My goal for 7 Bridges is to nail a 3:50:00. That means cutting off 7 minutes from my time in April. I’m really motivated to train hard, and I’m looking forward to kicking my own ass (I’m a little competitive).
